Gathering Ribbon onto cardstock and zippers

Well, if you love to sew and scrapbook, you are experiencing double the excitement of being able to do this with decorative threads, the gathering foot, and this wonderful floral stitch. By the way a similar  stitch is available on Husqvarna Viking machines too. It is an heirloom stitch.
Pass this onto your scrapbooking friends. They will be so happy you did.See article posted about gathering foot below.
Using Circular attachment tool on Cardstock

Second row of stitching with floral stitch

Almost finished/no stabilizer used for cardstock

After experimenting with this white ribbon on zipper above, stitch down one side of the zipper with stabilizer underneath. Turn the zipper around to do the other side the same.See blue ribbon zipper results below.

Pick stabilizer to match the zipper back.
This is an Inspira Tear Away

Zipper can be opened to stitch opposite side. As you get to bottom close or open the zipper as necessary.

Who thought making gathered ribbon could be so fun

Wonderful Gathering Foot that cinches organza ribbon with decorative floral stitch

  • Gather your flat organza ribbons for that very soft look using a special decorative stitch that is actually a popular floral stitch.

  • Even strips of organza will work well cut with a rotary cutter (the lighter in weight the organza ribbon the better)

  • You will need  ribbon strips the approximate width of your gathering foot.
  • Inspira Tear Away Stabilizer can be placed behind your background fabric, and in this case it is the black fabric.
  • Stabilizer is very important placed behind the background fabric*
  • 60wt bobbin thread

  • Decorative threads

  • Gathering Foot designed as seen below/ ribbon fits very nice

  • Decorative stitch that works extremely well is this flower design to cinch the ribbon. Simply place the ribbon in the foot, start sewing it to grab the ribbon and continue stitching the flower down the centre of your ribbon and onto your background fabric. It cinches the ribbon as it stitches.  VoilĂ    I love this ribbon effect.
9mm width or simply experiment with what you have
Settings on the Pfaff Creative Sensation

The flower is  is very light in colour if your thread matches your ribbon.

More to follow see below and thanks for taking the time to enjoy this blog

Now if you choose to stitch these ribbons in circular designs
Place your circular attachment tool onto your sewing machine. Next secure your background fabric to your tear away stabilizer. Choose the same floral decorative stitch and using your gathering foot again begin to stitch in circles.

Experiment with stitch lengths of your decorative floral stitch. If your circle is smaller, then shorten your stitch length a bit.Do not use your selective thread cutter. Over lap finished end simply by stitching. This stitch is available on the New Pfaff Passport and many more machines.

Pfaff Design #452 Handbags & More embroidered on Genuine Suede
Black on Black below

Use Inspira Fashion Fuse for your genuine or imitation leather and furs. Above is black suede with Robison Anton 40wt Rayon thread. One layer of Inspira Light and Tacky was also used so that the suede would not have to be hooped. It has also been used on the Imitation Suede below.

Pfaff Design #452 Handbags and More embroidered on Imitation Suede

These embroidery designs can have multiple uses. For creating handbags using the rest of the design elements to make the handbag or use them to create your own ideas like cases, artistic projects, home decorating items, chair cushions, placemats. Have fun.

Pfaff Design # 456 Grand Endless Embroidery

Use Inspira Fusible Fleece in a creamy white colour fused to the wrong side, and Inspira Tear Away, and Robison Anton Metallic Thread.

Home Decorating, Fashion hemlines, Quilting or as a neutral embroidery tone on tone.

This Turquoise Robison Anton thread was perfect for this Pfaff Embroidery #459 Sparkle Embroidery

Taking the design into 5D Embroidery Software, and backing the Silk with Black Fusible Fleece gave the fabric a very soft look. Gold Metallic thread was also used. Inspira Black Tear Away was also used.
Where could this be used? Handbag Inset, Jacket sleeve, skirt pocket, or a single design rather than 3. Bring this into a home decorating venture. Very modern approach to drapery, pillows, or duvet .

June Serger Watch

Watch for a Special Serger Feature in June right here on this blog.

Learn how to create serger seams in a very fashionable finish. Decorative, fun, and very soft on your summery linen fabrics. I can hardly wait to share this with you.

Sulky Blendable threads, Robison Anton metallic threads, and Signature cotton quilting threads. I love unconventional methods.

Remember, always think outside the box.
