Who thought making gathered ribbon could be so fun

Wonderful Gathering Foot that cinches organza ribbon with decorative floral stitch

  • Gather your flat organza ribbons for that very soft look using a special decorative stitch that is actually a popular floral stitch.

  • Even strips of organza will work well cut with a rotary cutter (the lighter in weight the organza ribbon the better)

  • You will need  ribbon strips the approximate width of your gathering foot.
  • Inspira Tear Away Stabilizer can be placed behind your background fabric, and in this case it is the black fabric.
  • Stabilizer is very important placed behind the background fabric*
  • 60wt bobbin thread

  • Decorative threads

  • Gathering Foot designed as seen below/ ribbon fits very nice

  • Decorative stitch that works extremely well is this flower design to cinch the ribbon. Simply place the ribbon in the foot, start sewing it to grab the ribbon and continue stitching the flower down the centre of your ribbon and onto your background fabric. It cinches the ribbon as it stitches.  VoilĂ    I love this ribbon effect.
9mm width or simply experiment with what you have
Settings on the Pfaff Creative Sensation

The flower is  is very light in colour if your thread matches your ribbon.

More to follow see below and thanks for taking the time to enjoy this blog

Now if you choose to stitch these ribbons in circular designs
Place your circular attachment tool onto your sewing machine. Next secure your background fabric to your tear away stabilizer. Choose the same floral decorative stitch and using your gathering foot again begin to stitch in circles.

Experiment with stitch lengths of your decorative floral stitch. If your circle is smaller, then shorten your stitch length a bit.Do not use your selective thread cutter. Over lap finished end simply by stitching. This stitch is available on the New Pfaff Passport and many more machines.
